Romantic Tuscany Destination Wedding

Today’s romantic destination wedding from Daniela Nizzoli will have you ready to get married in Italy! With a classic color combination of white, gold, and greenery, this wedding is utterly timeless and sophisticated. We are loving the gold ceremony arch that was handmade by the groom!

We spoke early on about having a destination wedding as we really wanted to keep it intimate and really personal. I am half Italian so the obvious choice was Italy! We did the venue scouting ourselves as I knew exactly what I thought would work for us – A villa which was sophisticated, glamourous and grand. Villa Caprolo was just perfect, set deep in the Tuscan counrtyside overlooking vineyards and the village of Greve in Chianti. It is not actually a wedding venue at all so we hired it for the week and then got our wonderful wedding planner Patrizia onboard to help us bring in everything from the catering, to musicians, florists and dance floors to us!

My dress story was not so simple… I knew from the start exactly what I wanted, however it was nowhere to be seen leaving me with not much time at all to find a dress (6 months, which in the UK is apparently a travesty?!) After going to numerous dress boutiques and finding all the dresses were too blingy or lacey whilst also having many crying episodes I finally found ‘The One’ in a gorgeous boutique a few hours from where I live. I knew I wanted a bardot neckline, fitted and a simple crepe fabric. My beautiful dress was by Caroline Castigliano, her designs are always elegant, very distinguishable and mostly always feature a very clever internal corset which pulls you in, in all the right places. It was everything I had, had in my head the whole time and I was so made up that Caroline had already made it up! I also always knew I wanted a traditional veil which covered my face and the longest one I could find. There is something so elegant about a veil and picked a stunning custom Helen Martin Cathedral length veil with lace detailing.

In day to day life I would say I like simple, sophisticated and timeless finishes on everything (being a designer I can be very particular!) so the wedding featured lots of white, some blush and a little navy with the finer details being gold. We felt it was really important to have a wedding that we could look back on in 40 years and it still look just as good. As our family and friends where all coming from England we really wanted to make sure everyone had the most fantastic week and knew how much we appreciated them making the effort. We did a pizza party the night before the wedding to welcome everyone to Italy and it was just the most fantastic way to make all our guests feel at ease and to get them into the party mood!

We also really wanted a copper wedding arch for the end of the aisle. We got quoted a lot of money to hire one in Italy and since Adam is a money saving man and we were driving over he decided he would make one himself with the help of his plumber friend. They did an absolutely fab job, it looked amazing with the flower garland placed around it too! We also had the wonderful lady who designed our stationary to do a custom table plan, with a hand drawing of Villa Caprolo on – I was so pleased with how it turned out and actually have it up in our house now as a reminder of the day.

I knew from the get go the flowers needed to be white with lots of greenery and some hints of blush. Peonies are my all time favourite flower and we were lucky enough it was peony season! Our amazing florist Nadia and her team did such a fantastic job of bringing my vision to life, from the aisle flowers and flower arch to the massive 20 meter long centerpiece which ran the entirety of the dinner table and had candles weaved into it.

We didn’t actually have a traditional wedding cake, our caterers explained they did them but they were really expensive but their alternative was a traditional Italian Mille-Feuille which is puff pastry layered with cream and fresh fruit. This was done infront of our guests by the chefs and we even got to pipe some of the cream ourselves. It felt much more theatrical and is something we won’t forget. It also tasted so beautiful and there was still some left the next day, which was quickly demolished by the whole villa who had hangovers by the pool!
