You will love this romantic and sweet California ranch wedding captured by Susie and Will. The couple DIY’d a lot of details, including a fun doughnut wall! We are obsessed with the bride’s amazing purple and white bouquet!
Our vision was timeless and classy with a lot of greenery. We choose shades of purple grey, blues, ivory and gold. We wanted a outdoor ceremony in a beautiful natural environment and the reception to be indoor and comfortable since summer weather can get hot!
For the wedding dress, Diana knew she didn’t want a strapless dress. After many bridal shop visits, she circled back to one of the first dresses she tried on at LOHO Bridal shop in West Hollywood and knew it was the dress. It was important to represent her culture by wearing a traditional Chinese dress called a Chipao. Since her mom was also going to wear one, it was easy to get one made as well. Red is a symbol of good luck and fortune in the Chinese culture and is also a very traditional color to wear.
For flowers we wanted something not traditional but creative and unique which is why we picked Walden Floral who executed this very well. We didn’t have any specific flowers that needed to be used. We just wanted it to go with the colors. The bridal bouquet was the most unique and beautiful bouquet that I could have ever asked for as well as the bridesmaids bouquets. The boutonnieres also were so unique. We loved our florals!
The most important thing for us was to stay within the budget and to communicate to each other! Photography and videography were very important because we knew on the day of the wedding, we would be so overwhelmed with everything that we wouldn’t be able to see all the details we had spent so much time planning. We also splurged on having an open bar so that our guests would for sure have a great time!
We made our own donut wall from materials purchased at Home Depot! We also printed our own table signs, name cards, and dessert signs. For our photo booth, we created the book and turned our dog Ari into some props! We found an vintage gold mirror and hired a calligrapher to write our names on it for signage at our ceremony and made our own flower girl baskets.
Our advice is to stay within budget because at the end there will unexpected expenses! Make sure to keep your vision a priority and try not to let family/others influence your decisions.
