This sweet late summer Vermont wedding from The Light and Color Wedding Photography is the perfect thing to end the week. With a soft pastel color palette and understated greenery details, this wedding is just lovely.
I wanted to have a wedding that was unique to us. I wanted every choice that was made, everything from the meal to the band, to be a reflection of who we are and what we love. Finding a wedding venue to let me pick and choose my wedding venue was a struggle – until we found An Affair By The Lake. Lorraine (the owner) let me chose whoever I wanted, and even gave me additional suggestions along the way. In Vermont, we pride ourselves on being friends of our local community – and I wanted my wedding to reflect that. We chose all local vendors, serving local farm fresh food and local brewed beer and wine.
Our ceremony was done by our uncle, Paul Ode. He told a very fun but romantic story about where we were located and why Ryan and I chose to be there. We exchanged our own Vows, and shared promises back and forth to one another. We also had our wedding party give a piece of “wedding advice,” or just read one of their favorite quotes during our ceremony. We LOVED our ceremony.
My dress was a reflection of my personality, and my husbands wishes. I shopped only at one bridal boutique in Burlington, Vermont, Everthine. They carry a selection of handmade designer dresses. My dress was called Stevie by Made With Love Bridal, originated out of Australia. It was fitted to by body (my husband’s request) but also a fun reflection of my personality, with comfortability being a top priority. I danced in it all night long.
Our location was breathtaking and didn’t need much assistance in the decoration category. We put some lawn games near the lake so people could enjoy themselves and the scene. Our florist did beautiful, but still very minimal, decorations throughout the venue to complement the scene that we were in. Everything was well-balanced.
I also wanted our day to be as eco-friendly as possible and Lorraine helped me pull that off. There was nothing disposable about our day – our beer cans were recycled and our food scraps were composted. It made us feel great!
