Starting off the week with this dreamy forest wedding from Heather Elizabeth Photography right at the foot of a redwood tree! This couple really focused on their guests’ enjoyment with so many thoughtful details. There is an adorable little tent for the kids to play in and I love the flats station for guests to change into when their heels started hurting. And how cute are the ‘ring bears’? So darling!
We ignored the concept of a theme for our wedding and instead stuck with a general style, sprinkling in little pieces that reminded us of each other. The venue drove the look and feel; the tucked away nature of the former winery and redwood grove made it feel vintage, whimsical, and secret garden like. We stuck with soft colors like grey, sage, and antique cold, and then sprinkled in things like a teepee for kids to play in, and a oyster cart for our guests.
We made every effort to maximize comfort and fun for our guests while still staying true to our values. We had gold slip ons to giveaway when guests feet got tired, and every guest had an individual bottle of champagne.
We made our own ceremony with a mixture of traditions. One piece of our ceremony was lighting a unity candle under the redwood tree. We had to cup the flames and try not to laugh to make sure the candles didn’t blow out.
I wore my late grandmother’s fur shrug and gold bangle. The globe that guests signed was from my childhood. But what was really heirloom was the venue. We danced in an old wine cellar with an open ceiling and Italian lights strung across. The bed & breakfast Inn was originally a ranch and winery built in the 1880s.
Also, we loved that we had 9 children attend our wedding. They were fantastic dancers and were one of the best parts (and biggest hits of the wedding).
