I’ve been dying to share this sweet, simple, and romantic lodge wedding from Candace Berry! Surrounded by friends and family in a gorgeous setting, this couple had the intimate wedding of their dreams. They made really smart choices with their budget, focusing on what mattered most to them and finding some steals (like the bride’s $15 dress!)
Our wedding day was filled of love and intimacy! We were surrounding by the ones that are closest to us, that came together to celebrate our love and new chapter in our life! We chose a whimsical theme, being surrounded by the resorts beautiful grounds. We chose simple and easy-going decor.
Growing up, I was never the girl that dreamt of her wedding day and coming down the aisle in this beautiful gown! When it came down to me actually needing to find a gown (after getting engaged) I did not have the slightest idea what I wanted. I then put the trust in my mother once we went to a few wedding boutiques in search of the “perfect” dress. I could not begin to imagine spending the amounts of some of these dresses! One weekend my mom and dad went to the states and that is where I put the trust in my mom to return with whatever dress she could find! As she tells this story, she went to practically every store (summer just arriving) in search of a white dress. When she arrived home she told me she had found my dress! I said great and checked it off my list! I knew whatever she brought me back I would find a way to make it work and knowing my mother all too well she had gotten a good deal or it was a good price! It was an H&M beach lace cover up for bathing suits! It was the perfect dress for me (other than the fact it was completely see-through). I then sought out a seamstress to make me a slip and before you knew it my $14.95 dress from H&M was just the wedding dress I would soon walk down the aisle in!
It was most important for us to be true to who Kris and I are as a couple and making it intimate like we wanted it to be! (not letting others influence our decisions).
I am an old person! I love antiques and every bouquet of flowers I was ever given from Kris are hanging up in my house. Although, once finding out that the bouquet of my dreams- a whimsical green cascading bouquet with light pastel flowers was going to cost $150+, I quickly decided that Michaels was going to be my next stop! After an hour or more in Michaels and $30 later, I had all I needed to create my bouquet. For the invites, my loving husband, Kris, got to work with my black ink pad and made all the wedding invitations himself! Love free labour!
The best part was sharing a wonderful day with wonderful people and becoming Mrs. Fawcett.
