You are going to fall for the beautiful florals in today’s autumn New Jersey wedding from A Garden Party. Even though Hurricane Joaquin changed their outdoor wedding plans, this couple didn’t let it ruin their day. The bride looked absolutely stunning in her mother’s wedding dress. And those floral chandeliers? Too romantic for words!
I chose the Brantwyn Estate for my wedding not only for its lush gardens and the incredible exterior of the manor, but also because its unique setup would allow guests to mingle throughout the dinner hour and get a full view of the entire reception area. It was like having a party at someone’s house, albeit a very big, extraordinary house. I completely lucked out in that my now sister-in-law is Mary Coombs of A Garden Party florist. I pointed out a few colors I liked (marsala, deep green, blush) and she ran with it.
My wedding gown was originally my mother’s. I had tried it on “for fun,” when I first got engaged and it fit like a glove. I just knew that it was the dress for me. She had this beautiful lace detailing that I couldn’t wait to bring to life again, and a few alterations helped bring it up to date. I also wore my sister’s veil, and to have these details as I walked down the aisle made it that much more special.
Our wedding happened to be during the weekend of Hurricane Joaquin, so our gorgeous outdoor ceremony had to be moved inside to a crowded room. However, as Kevin and I said our vows, you could feel the room shake with laughter and the pure emotion of our guests. I would never had felt that closeness with everyone if it hadn’t been switched.
My uncle was my officiant, and his home in Virginia has this amazing terrarium coffee table. I have always loved that table. We knew we wanted a few lounge areas to encourage the mingling aspect of the reception, so we had our very own terrarium coffee table made! It was so perfect, especially since he was such a huge part of our ceremony.
It was also amazing watching guests enjoy the night – participating in the tattoo bar, gushing over the food, and dancing like crazy to the band we had loved so much. There was not a better way to start our marriage than that fantastic night with all our family and friends.
