Classic and elegant is the only way to describe today’s winter Florida wedding captured by Justin Demutiis. I’m utterly in love with the bride’s look. From the illusion lace long sleeves of her gown to her cathedral length veil to her mother’s sapphire earrings as her something blue, the whole look is perfection.
My colors were navy, gold, and ivory. Our location of the Tampa Yacht Club perfectly fit the style of elegance with a hint of glamour that I wanted. Additionally, since we had a January wedding, we sought to channel a wintery theme through our flowers and details such as a s’more bar and firepit.
The lace wrapped around my bouquet came from my mother’s wedding dress. The gorgeous sapphire earrings I wore also belong to my mother. The beautiful cake stand, cake cutter, and silver toasting goblets belonged to my grandmother.
Spending time and having fun with family and friends was perhaps the most important to us. It influenced our decision to have a first look in order to get to our reception faster, as well as our decision to have a mostly stand up reception with food stations.
We wanted a lively party where everyone would be free to mix and mingle. Part of our vision was amazing food and music. We had an awesome band that kept us all dancing all night! We opted for traditional, southern comfort food such as chicken and waffles, mac and cheese, etc. One of my favorite details of the day was the sequin gold tablecloths on the dance floor under the outside tent. It really added some spice and fun to the area!
Another special detail was the cookbook we used for guests to sign notes on. This was The Junior League of Tampa Gasparilla Cookbook. It was through the Gasparilla Ye Mystic Krewe that Danny and I were paired up for a blind date. The cookbook has old recipes donated by women in Tampa including my grandmother and great grandmother. It will be so special to see the notes from our friends and family when we use the book in the future.
My favorite part of the day was spending it with Danny. Although the day went by so fast, we always took time to savor the moments together. We will always remember our first look, exchanging vows, and dancing the night away together.
