Our wedding was held on a goat farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Luray, Virginia. We wanted something relaxed but also something very beautiful. We found Khimaira online and because of the price, we decided to check it out. It was the only place we looked at because we fell in love with it immediately. Linda (the owner and extraordinaire) helped us with everything. Her and her staff knew exactly what to do and made it so easy for us.
My mother gave me a bracelet that was my father’s grandmothers. It was my “something old, borrowed and blue.” I had never seen it until a few days before the wedding and I fell in love with it. I also wore a necklace Bobby had given me when we first started dating, over 10 years ago. That was also my “something old.”
After being in and attending other weddings, we knew what to do and what not to do. The most important thing to us on our wedding day is that we wanted everyone to have an awesome time. That meant good food, good music and good drinks.
We wanted our colors and style to be classy, elegant and whimsical. Pink and grey are very popular wedding colors but there is a reason for that, they are gorgeous together. After figuring out the color scheme, the rest fell into place.
We have a couple of DIY details on our wedding day. First off, we created the invitations and programs through Zazzle.com. We put together the program fans with the handles and tied each piece of twine on them. We also created signs for our chair which read, “Jersey Strong” and “Delaware Made.” The last but best DIY project we did together were the “Thank You” gifts. They were jars of homemade strawberry jam that we made with strawberries that we picked down in Georgia, where we currently live. These small details really made it special to us and our guests.
Our favorite part of the day was seeing all of our friends and family who came to celebrate our new adventure. They came far and wide to join us and we couldn’t have be more grateful. There was also an amazing firefly show in the fields at night which was mind blowing :)
