Starting off the new month with this charming rustic styled Virginia wedding from Alicia Lacey Photography. They had a gorgeous venue, so they chose to keep the color palette more neutral with pops of navy for a classic and romantic look. I love their sweet burlap and lace wrapped cake. And that heart shaped ring box needs to be mine, so cute!
Our vision was to create a vintage, romantic, rustic garden style wedding. I knew the beauty of the venue would do a lot of work for us, so we kept our decorations and flowers subtle. I love the vintage and classic look of navy blue and gray, and the subtle hues of baby’s breath, ivory, soft pink, and my favorite, dusty miller, were perfect touches for our flower arrangements.
I wore my Mother’s necklace, earrings, and bracelet that she wore during her wedding.
We fell in love with the venue for The Mill ruins aspect and thought it was so beautiful and unique. It was exclusive and intimate, yet inviting for our guests. The grounds have so many areas to explores as well, the two cottages, the balcony that overlooks the mill ruins and the garden path, the grassy area that leads to rocks, and a path that takes you to the creek. We loved that our photographer, Alicia Lacey, captured all aspects of our beautiful venue.
It was most important for us to bring our families together, to relish in the love and joy of our marriage and future together, to keep things simple and stress free, and to have fun with those we love the most (the keys to our happiness).
My Mom made all of the chalkboard signs, my Step-Dad made the oak barrel that greeted our guests and the mini tables that held our lantern centerpieces. My Mom, brother, and two sister in law’s decorated the tables and seating assignment, and my Mom and Dad personalized our M&M party favors.
Our first look was such an emotional and special moment for us, I started crying the second I saw Matt standing with his back to me and I couldn’t wait to turn him around and give him a big hug and kiss. It eased so much of our nerves and we were both so glad we decided to do that and have that time together before the night began. We also enjoyed dancing the night away with our family and friends, there was a lot of male booty dropping and salsa competitions with Matt’s Cuban side of the family!
