If rustic and romantic are key words for your dream wedding, this blush Ojai wedding from Driver Photo is sure to get you excited. From long farm tables to the ruffle cake, this relaxed backyard wedding is everything a summer wedding should be.
Nolan and I knew we wanted to get married outside somewhere that was rustic and didn’t need much attention to decorations. We ended up picking my step grandmother’s house in Ojai for the venue. She lives on Thacher school property. Thacher school has a outdoor chapel that has an amazing view of Ojai and the mountains.
It was neat to get married there because my mom got married at the same place 15 years ago. I loved that the outdoor chapel had a wide aisle so both my dads could escort me and to mention the beautiful flower arch I got to walk through. We couldn’t have picked a better venue with such beautiful views to say our vows to each other.
We had the reception at my grandmothers house. The house itself was over a 100 years old and built when my step dad’s great grandfather started Thacher school. The property was perfect for our rustic/vintage country style. One of my favorite things we did instead of a traditional guest book was set up a station with a tag and vintage key so guests could share their key to a successful marriage. We set up a mix of different hard wood barn tables on the grass and a sweetheart table facing everyone. We wanted everyone to feel relaxed and at home. One of our favorite things about our wedding was the food. We chose wood ranch BBQ and set it up buffet style.
Also Instead of serving a full bar we chose a red, white wine, champagne, beer and a signature cocktail. Ojai is known for their citrus and because Ojai Pixie and Friends is in the family it seemed like a perfect mix for our signature cocktail called the”Weezy pixie”( my grandmother name). Everyone loved it!. We set up a table of mason jars with people’s name and table number on them. The saying went …..your glass for the night for whatever taste right, yours to keep let it help find your seat. Our other take home gift was our dessert /candy table with our signature paper bags.
When it became dark it was neat to see all the string lighting around the property and especially on the dance floor. It was really important to both of us that our wedding felt like one big party and celebration. We just wanted our guests to have a great, memorable time and I think we did that.
