Sharing this pretty and pink Santa Fe wedding from Liz Anne Photography. I’m dying over all the lush peonies (my floral weakness)! And that naked chocolate cake is almost too pretty to eat!
Chris and I were engaged for a year, we wanted it that way so that we could take our time planning and really making the wedding everything we dreamed of. One of the most important things for us was for our family and friends to get to enjoy this day just as much as Chris and I and not have to stress over anything. That’s one of the main reasons why we decided to go with La Fonda on the Plaza as our wedding venue; they decorated the venue and took care of coordinating that day for us.
Another important aspect of planning our wedding was keeping within budget. It was definitely harder than what we thought, since we had no clue how much things would cost. But we managed to pull it off; we had to decide what things were a priority and what weren’t. For instance, I originally wanted all of our desserts to be freshly baked by a local baker, but we soon found out that it was either freshly made desserts or a beautiful wedding cake. So we ended up baking our own desserts. I have a wonderful sister who is very creative; she made all of the macaroons and meringue. The rest of the desserts we ended up getting at Costco. Another thing we compromised on was the wedding date. For the most part, everyone wants their wedding on a Saturday afternoon, but we found out you will definitely pay for that. We decided to do our wedding on a Sunday, and we literally paid half of what we would’ve had we done it on a Saturday.
My favorite thing about our wedding was that we truly got to enjoy that day with all of our family and friends; there was no running around trying to get things done. Our wedding was a dream come true and we are so thankful for everyone who came and celebrated with us, the people there truly were the most important and memorable “thing” for us. We are also so blessed that we got to work with such talented people that knew exactly what they were doing. I will say this though, things did go wrong and we weren’t always running on time, but from the get-go we had to make a conscious decision to not let the little mess-ups ruin that beautiful day.
