I am so excited to share today’s wedding from Driver Photo! It is a stunning vintage themed wedding at an amazing villa estate (sounds perfect already, right?) Not only are there gorgeous fabric and brooch bouquets, but there are some of the most unique cluster centerpieces I’ve seen. Each table has a beautifully curated collection of antique and vintage finds. And how cute is the ‘primping station’ for the photo booth? Too many great ideas to share in this one!
To me vintage style is timeless. I enjoy decorating with vintage pieces and thought for my wedding it would be great to look back on a vintage-themed day and not regret it. One thing I loved is that about incorporating vintage pieces into our day was that I didn’t have to stick to a particular color theme. I started by choosing our lace and burlap cloth, and I went from there.
We decided not to use a florist for our wedding because #1 it is expensive, and #2 our venue already had an abundance of roses everywhere. I ended up collecting broaches and I made my bouquet with broaches intertwined with fake flowers. I created “rose” bouquets out of burlap for my bridesmaids.
I started garage sale-ing and going to flea markets and collecting vintage items that I loved and in the process I realized I could have table themes with the various vintage pieces as my center pieces (i.e. we had a music themed table, a travel themed table, etc.). Along with our unique vintage finds we also incorporated old photos of our relatives and special mementos of mine and my husband’s that fit nicely into our themed tables. I really feel our themed tables with collections of special vintage & personal pieces set the mood for the entire wedding.
Cigar lounges are very common now, but ours was special as we had it dedicated to my husband’s grandfather who has passed. He was a great role model to my husband, and he loved his pipe tobacco. Having the dedicated cigar lounge made it feel like he was there in spirit…and these kind of touches are so important.
Advice for brides planning now: Do exactly what you love and want! Follow through with your own ideas and don’t let friends, family, or wedding planners get in the way of that. In the end when you see everything you envisioned surrounding the people that you love the most, you know that this was your and your husbands day, not anyone else’s. Also it really is so possible to stay within your budget! Stay committed and don’t be afraid to DIY anything you possibly can. LET family and friends help in anyway when they offer!
