Hello fab readers! Today I am excited to share a new feature here on G&G! I’ve noticed there is a lot of pressure now-days to have a ‘Pinterest wedding’. While Pinterest is a great place to gather and store your favorite inspiration, it is important to realize it is just that: inspiration. It is important to take little details (the colors, the mood, the style) from those things that attract you and then make it your own. Your wedding is just that: yours. It should be a reflection of you. That sounds pretty basic, but it is so easy to get caught up in all the things we see and love, we forget to make it ours. So I introduce you to this fun new series called Steal & Spin! Steal the amazing inspiration that you are absolutely in love with, and spin it to make it your own!

Everyone absolutely loved this fireplace mantle altar from this amazing Southern shoot from a few weeks ago. If you love vintage and found things, this idea is for you! Repurposing old details and using it in fun and fresh ways always looks amazing! Here in this shoot it was styled in a very classic Southern way. A scroll monogram, romantic candles, and soft baby’s breath make it perfect for any Southern belle. Below I am sharing 4 ways to take this fab altar idea and make it your own!
Love this idea, but don’t want to go so classic? Try this fun modern spin with colorful tassel garlands from The Flair Exchange! Hang the garland in your favorite color combination on the edge, then add some fun details on the top for some height. Maybe succulents in different size jars, or perhaps some glass bottles spray painted gold with taper candles? Make it you!

Wanting something more etherial or romantic? Garlands are the way to go! Go lush with your favorite florals and a pop of your wedding colors, or try a more neutral option with just magnolia or bay leaves.
Loving the rustic look? Try these burlap wrapped initials from Duryea Place Designs! Once you’ve got you & your fiancé covered, add in more details that represent you. Perhaps a lace runner from grandma draped over the top or a collection of mason jars with tea lights inside? Think of details that represent you as a couple to make it personal.

Wanting something more fun and eclectic? I love the idea of these marquee letters! Try spelling out love or yours to give a unique spin on your nuptials. It would be cool to paint your mantle too. Go for a bright color will give it that extra pop!
So what do you think? Do you like the idea of a fireplace mantle for your altar? Which style do you gravitate towards? Let me know what you are loving and other ideas you would like to see for future Steal & Spins!
