Today I’m sharing a California wedding with the perfect blend of rustic and chic. This couple really had a focus on family and making their wedding day feel like one big family party. I love the big farm tables and the box centerpieces!
Planning the wedding was a lot of fun because I was able to put all my favorite styles together. I would have trouble describing what styles I wanted. Romantic but not too serious, elegant but not over the top, rustic but with some shine! Traditional but fun and new! and every pin I had was vintage. I was a contradiction! But with my mom’s help we came up with the term “Rustic Elegance” We loved the creativity rustic style weddings allows a bride to be, but still wanted the event to feel like everyone was getting out of the house for a fun wedding. We also wanted to create a feeling of a European style wedding. My mother in law is from Switzerland and my husband grew up there as a child on the family’s farm it was exactly the vibe I wanted to convey for that day! A little bit of rustic country charm with both of our cultures coming together. We both agreed that we wanted our wedding to feel like a huge family party!
From the start I knew I wanted family style seating and have always loved a long, farm tables with dark raw wood and beautiful! That was something I was willing to splurge for the budget. My husband and I feel that a dinner table is what we enjoy when we are with family and wanted to make that a staple for that day. Luckily I found Baker Party Rentals and they were fantastic! Another important thing we wanted was for everyone to feel like they were at home. We wanted it to feel like a backyard wedding in the sense that you can let loose and celebrate. The Temecula Creek Inn was very accommodating to our large rowdy group, and helped me bring in all the small touches we worked so hard on! Having more than just music for entertainment was also important! So we had Castillas Cigars bring in a Cuban cigar roller to represent my mothers Cuban culture and everyone can get a little taste of Cuba! And of course Picture A GoGo brought in a chic photo booth and provided guests a favor to take home!
We knew that a way for everyone feel at home was to put focus on the small details. So I searched Pinterest for fun and creative DIY projects. And I can say that DIY projects was something we my husband and I always agreed on. His mom helped make our runners out of painter’s cloth and stenciled different patterns on each runner. We channeled his Swiss culture and bought small glass cups that double as wine glasses and as party favors. My mother and I made all our center pieces by hand! The center pieces were my favorite! We worked so hard on them and our florist, Carla Kayes from Enchanted Blooms, did a beautiful job. She really knew what flowers really would make that day feel romantic and unique.
The day of was frightening because there was a mist and ended up raining at the end! But I knew all the hard work we put into that day paid off! Everyone stayed the entire night with frizzy hair and muddy feet, and stayed until the venue shut us down! No one cared about the rain or the cold. I like to think we did a good job at planning an event everyone wanted to stick around for!
