There are some days when I get a real wedding submission and it just makes my heart sing. This wedding did just that! It is exactly what I want to share with you lovely readers: a romantic and meaningful wedding with sweet details, captured by an amazing photographer. It isn’t overloaded on the details; it is perfectly simple, utterly chic, and filled with love! Today’s wedding has one of my favorite color combinations too, pink and gray, with fab touches of greenery. And I am completely in love with the bride, Carissa’s stunning look (very Jane Austen, no?)
When Michael and I were first engaged, we really considered eloping. The thought of escaping somewhere exotic or romantic was tempting, but we knew we really wanted our friends and family there with us. Now, looking back, we are really happy we have the memories of a wedding!
Our wedding was simple and intimate. For years I have imagined a garden ceremony and reception, and it took my breath away when I saw my ideas come to life. My friend Leslie worked miracles for me. She is so creative and talented; she did everything from making the moss covered initials that hung above the altar, to arranging the chairs and furniture the day of. We had sixty of the people we are closest to there with us in a small garden at the Vinoy Resort.
Another really amazing part was having Justin DeMutiis capturing the day. He was more than the photographer, he is my mentor and good friend, and I knew that I could trust him completely. When I asked him to capture my wedding on film, he was thrilled. Michael and I can remember our day as beautiful as it was because of him.
For the reception, we wanted everyone to feel relaxed and able to mingle. There was wine and passed hors’ oeuvres, then french macarons and coffee. The weather could not have been more perfect.
