It may be a little chilly still where you are, but I promise spring is coming soon! To get you ready I’ve got a bright poppy and blue Oregon wedding to share. I am obsessed with the gorgeous flowers! I don’t think I’ve ever seen prettier bright red blooms.
The beautiful bride Meagan shares:
Some of the things that were most important to us while planning were family, location, and food. Both of us have a good amount of family members who live in other parts of the country. We were lucky and thrilled to have so many of them come out to celebrate with us. Adding to the wonderful family feel of the wedding was my uncle Ron Beckman,a Lutheran minister who married us. It was extra special because Ron also married my parents who celebrated their 40th anniversary a few months before our wedding.
Bill and I both love the outdoors, and having grown up in Oregon, we know that late summer here has the most gorgeous weather. Our awesome florist helped us pick the perfect flowers to really show off our venue’s natural beauty. With so many out-of-towners visiting us, we wanted to show them the best of what there is to eat here, and both our rehearsal dinner and our reception dinner featured northwest cuisine.
As anyone who’s married will say, our wedding day flew by in such a blur, but of course there are many moments that stand out that we’ll never forget. Through the whole planning process we were blown away by the generosity of our parents, who spent so much time doing everything from helping us coordinate with our vendors to throwing us a beautiful rehearsal dinner and relaxing day-after brunch. They really made the entire weekend special and memorable.
Spending such a large part of the wedding day with my bridesmaids was fun and comforting. We had such a blast doing photos before the ceremony, and I know Bill had just as much fun with his groomsmen (who were all simultaneously extremely helpful, and amazingly silly in their photos). I’ll never forget my dad’s face when he saw me in my dress for the first time, or how the crazy nerves I felt right before the ceremony quickly faded as soon as I saw Bill and walking to him felt just like coming home. One of Bill’s favorite memories was seeing me at the top of a hill that I walked down from. We had such a great time and felt so much joy in the time we got to spend with our family. The photo booth and candy buffet was a favorite for the guests, and the cake was pretty darn fantastic too. I’m so glad we had such a wonderful photographer to capture it all for us.
