Are you ready to take a little trip to Mexico? Today’s modern purple and green wedding in gorgeous Playa del Carmen will definitely make you long for the sun and the sand. I just love the amazing attention to detail in this wedding. All the paper goods, from the welcome box to the program fans to the escort cards coordinate perfectly and tie everything together. The designs are fun and festive, but still clean and chic for that modern vibe.
The gorgeous bride Kara shares:
Even before we were officially engaged, Andy and I knew that we wanted a destination wedding. One of our favorite vacation spots is Playa del Carmen, Mexico because of its white sandy beaches, open air restaurants, and authentic Mexican charm. It has the fun, laid-back vibe we sought for our wedding, and we wanted to make sure our guests who were traveling from far away places like Colorado, South Carolina, and Washington, DC had an unforgettable time. We spent hours researching venues and ultimately picked the Royal Playa del Carmen because it is within walking distance to the action downtown but also has plenty of quiet, relaxing spaces onsite.
Some couples go the destination route because they want to be hands-off with the details. I was the exact opposite! Things like custom stationary, handmade welcome boxes, and unique decorations were important to me. I hired a wonderful graphic designer to help make our “modern Mexico” theme come to life. She got creative with our eggplant and chartreuse colors to create a custom monogram and complimentary icons for all of the pieces. Two of my favorites were the programs that doubled as fans and the message-in-a-bottle guest book. Etsy and Pinterest provided me with inspiration for our flowers and accessories, while online shops like Beau-coup came through for the finishing touches.
Andy and I both agree that having a destination wedding was perfect for us. Since most of our guests stayed for the long weekend, it allowed us to relax and catch up with them at the pool (with pina coladas in hand!). The wedding day itself far surpassed all of our dreams. From the beautiful gazebo that overlooked the ocean, to the Mexican trio that serenaded our guests during the sunset cocktail hour, to the indoor ballroom decked out with a light up dance floor and fireworks, we could not have been happier with the end result. Some of our favorite memories include the “first look” photo session with the extremely talented Adam and Imthiaz, Andy’s first dance with his Mom that brought the crowd to its feet, and the speeches that made us simultaneously laugh and cry.
A special shout out goes to everyone who helped make it perfect along the way, including our talented vendors, and the friends and family who either celebrated with us in Mexico or sent their love from afar. Thank you!
