A Fun Handmade Summer Wedding

There is not much better than a fun summer wedding full of sweet homespun details! You may remember this cute couple from almost a year ago when I featured their retro engagement session. If you thought that shoot was awesome, you are going to love the wedding! I’m dying over the bride’s gorgeous vintage gown and her fabulous wedges she paired with it. And how amazing are all the paper stain-glass/trellis backdrops? I have never seen this kind of detail before and I am definitely in love!

The gorgeous bride Monica shares:

The most important detail of our wedding day for us was that our wedding was – us!

We fell in love with the Historic Jack House Gardens in San Luis Obispo, CA. We both come from large families so we needed a venue that could accommodate lots of people, was budget friendly and still give us the freedom to add our own unique touches for the day.

For months before our big date arrived Justin, and some of my lovely bridesmaids (the ones that lived close to us in Los Angeles) helped me craft. We had crafting nights filled with wine, snacks and lots of hot glue and more wine! We made over 500 feet of pendent flags, painted books, tables, tapestries, mason jars, cut burlap and picnic blankets, painted pots, made mini flags … ugh- just to name a few of the projects.

I wore a vintage dress found at a flea market, and Justin kept it casual with khakis and a vest. We were married in the park gazebo, with our little dog Vita and  about 180 of our closes friends and family. The beautiful day started with a serve your self beer garden before the ceremony – picnic blankets were available for extra seating.  I walked down the aisle to “Cant Help Falling In Love” played on the Ukulele.  We had a nacho bar and mini burritos for the cocktail hour and then the party really got going!!  We danced all night to play lists made by both Justin and I :) it was perfect!

Looking back on our wonderful day – I cant help but feel joy! And we could not have been any happier!
