Real Wedding: Missy and Clint

First off, let me just warn you that these photos are pretty awesome. Seriously some of the coolest bridal party shots I’ve seen! Aron from Calculated Style is truly amazing! Besides the great pics, this purple DIY wedding has one of the sweetest couples, that truly understand the meaning of a wedding. It was about them, so they created a day with all of their favorite things and had an fantastic time.

The lovely bride and groom share some details:

We didn’t really have a conscious theme for the wedding, but if we had to name one, it would probably be described as our favourite things because we really just went with whatever we loved and didn’t worry too much about things matching perfectly or fitting a specific style. We found that going with our instincts and choosing things that felt right for us ended up creating the perfect day that was a little bit vintage and a little bit country. We also took the opportunity to draw on the skills of our talented friends to make the different elements of the day that much more meaningful.

I’m a huge country music fan, so our friend Laura Jean (who created all of the print pieces for us) used a couple engagement photos and designed the ceremony program to look like a vintage album cover. We also fell in love with Hatch Show Print’s letterpress posters when we were in Nashville last year, so Laura Jean recreated the look for our invitations.

The cake was created as a gift by our friend Lindsey and our friend Kyle put tons of time and thought into creating the perfect playlist for the reception and played deejay all night. We really loved our ceremony – the vows, the support from our friends and family in the room, everything – and one of the most meaningful moments came when our friends Luke and Ashley performed “To Make You Feel My Love” while we signed the registry… grown men were sobbing in their seats.

When it came to working with our vendors, we just put our trust in them – they’re the experts and they did an amazing job of guiding us without being pushy and managed to balance humouring us with being honest when something wasn’t working. In terms of budgeting, we decided early on to splurge on a few key things (food, photography) and go DIY for others like decor (all about Ikea lanterns) and table gifts (homemade jams & jellies).
