Real Wedding | A Plum and Green Arizona Wedding

This week’s wedding is an elegant plum and green Arizona wedding with some amazing details. This couple went all out making sure their wedding was unique and personal, with tons of meaningful touches. I am pretty much head over heals in love with the cake and the adorable toppers! And the images Elyse Hall was able to capture are amazing!

The gorgeous Nicholle shares all the details:

Jeff and I are high school sweethearts and we met 12 years ago in Arizona.  Although we no longer live there we love the desert and wanted to have our wedding in the place where it all started so long ago.  It was important that our wedding be special, meaningful, and FUN for the wedding guest as they have seen us grow into a beautiful adult couple.  We both love simple elegance, with rustic charm and truly believe that our vision was brought to life on our wedding day.

We’re really happy to say that many of the wedding details where our own ideas and a lot of the decorations were made by us as well. Starting with our own home-made wedding invitations from paper-source that were embossed Mums, and accented with the colors Plum, Gold, and Grey.  Many of our wedding elements surrounded the theme of our”Mum Invitation” from our home-made menu cards that where hand stamped with the “Mums”, and our Wedding Cake which was covered with ivory mums and topped with two hand painted plum wooden love birds. Jeff and I also made our own wedding programs, and bird-seed pouches to be thrown after we said “I Do” with a riddle attached.  We used lanterns with candles to line the aisle way, as well as for our table centerpieces during the cocktail hour. Since my Maid-of-Honor gave me my “something blue” before the wedding, I placed my blue embroidered handkerchief with my initials and wedding date, then wrapped around the handle of my bouquet.

A lot of the wedding details where very sentimental to us and we wanted our guest to feel how personalized the wedding was from the ceremony to the reception.  We tried to make every element uniquely ours and special for both us and our guest.  Our guest book was a non-traditional yet memorable piece that we will have forever.  We had a “Thumb Print” tree for all the guest to thumb print and sign their name on the canvas (as a leaf).  We have the “tree” framed in our home and it is a constant reminder of all the special people who shared in our wedding day. Jeff and I also tried to include some elements to the wedding that resembled “us” as a “couple”.  Some special additional details we added during the reception include a hosted “Donut Bar” where various types of our favorite donuts were displayed on platters with mini to go “brown bags” that where hand stamped with “Merci”.  This way the guest could have an additional late night treat before they left for the night.

Since we met so long ago we thought that it would be sweet to keep it personal and also add a memories from our “young romance”.  We decided to make “Cootie Catchers” like we had made in grade school.  But, all of the questions surrounded Jeff and Me, and the guest unfolded the answers.  Like, Where did we meet, How many kids do we want, Where are we Honeymooning?  When you unfolded all the answers, in the center was a thank you letter to all of the guest for sharing in our special day and how much they each mean to us. From the “Cootie Catchers” to the “Donut Bar” to the “Thumb Print Guest Book”… Each of these details and personalized elements helped to create a wedding that was truly unique to Jeff and me. There were so many wonderful and beautiful wedding details but the most truly special part was the intimacy of our ceremony that made it so special for us and our guest.  Along with reciting traditional vows, Jeff and I wrote “I love yous…” which was also read aloud by our officiant.  Our “I love you’s” where wrote by us both prior to the ceremony and given to our Officiant 10 days before.  It was 15 reasons why we love each other and we had heard our “I Love You’s” for the first time on our Wedding day along with our guest.  It was such a special moment, some funny, personal, and sentimental.  But, so very magical and unique!

It was important that our guest felt as special as we did so we had homemade goodie bags for the guest staying at the hotel with a note from Jeff and I.  We filled a recyclable/reusable bag with some of our favorite treats and fun things to do around the area.  Lastly, we sent out post card “thank yous” that where a collage of a few of our favorite Photos from our Fabulous Photographer “Elyse Hall” with a special note of thanks.  We had amazing vendors and wonderful support and love from our family and friends…because of this our wedding was so very unique and very special.
