Ending the week with this lovely seaside bridal session captured by Heather & Jared Photography. The bride wore a beautiful off the shoulder lace gown that was handmade by a friend. So stunning right? Paired with a sweet baby’s breath flower crown, the look is effortlessly elegant. The Cedar Point Country Club grounds were the perfect backdrop for the boho beauty.
Today I’m sharing the sweetest southern farm wedding filled with vintage touches from Samantha Laffoon. I’m absolutely in love with how many heirlooms and treasured vintage pieces this couple incorporated in their wedding. From the reception details to the bride’s reception dress, everything was inspired by or directly from the couple’s grandparents.
Growing up I spent a lot of time with my grandparents at their farm home. My grandmother wallpapered every room in the house with unique floral wallpaper and draped the windows with floral lace curtains to match. Every shelf was accented with antique pieces. These decorative touches were my favorite thing about visiting their home and inspired every aspect of our wedding.
In every part of our wedding we tried to incorporate vintage touches especially color. One of my favorite jewelry pieces are Cameos, which are soft pink/peach color. Soft pinks are also a common color in vintage floral wallpaper and remind me of flowers in bloom. The bridesmaid dresses are varying styles by After Six & Dessy in cameo reflecting this and our floral bouquets and centerpieces were composed of soft blooms with soft shades of white, cream, peach, and pink.
The first look was my favorite part. When we first got to Asheville it was hectic and there was no time for the two of us to enjoy that we were getting married without being surrounded by friends and family. The first look was the first moment when it felt like we didn’t have a deadline or a place to be and even though our photographers were there it didn’t seem like it.
The most important thing to us was the party atmosphere and creating an environment reminiscent of all ‘those summer nights’. I grew up with bonfires, bare feet, and the attitude of a little dirt never hurt anybody. It was really important that our event be outdoors where you could see the stars, tell stories around the bonfire, and dance (in or out of your shoes). We are also a foodie family so I had to see that everyone was full and happy.
The mantel of the fireplace was decorated with the wedding photos of our grandparents. In one photo you can see Michael’s grandmother’s wedding ring. It is the same ring he proposed to me with after having the band altered to fit my ring size. Accenting the tables are lace doilies and valances made by my maternal great grandmother. I personally made the table numbers to mimic my grandparents home including the floral wallpaper I love so much and mismatching the frames to further exemplify the unique qualities of my grandparents home. I also made the escort cards using craft tags and twine, mini clothespins, and three spray painted frames. The keys attached to each escort card came from the collections of both my maternal and paternal grandparents
The dress worn by my maternal grandmother on her wedding day could be seen in her photo and was also the same dress I wore during our reception (2 days shy of 52 years later)— I also wore my mother’s pearl necklace. Although I had to alter the bust size of the dress to remove a bit of fabric, the length and zipper were a perfect fit.

With scenic gardens in the backdrop and golden light, it is hard not to fall for this engagement session from Sun & Sparrow Photography. This couple is styled to a T and I’m in love with their elegant look. How beautiful is the bride’s plum lace gown? The rich jewel tone hues are so perfect for fall.
