Rustic Farmhouse Wedding

You don’t find middle-school sweethearts very often, but today’s wedding from Susan Dixon Photography has a sweet couple that has been together since they were 13. They included lots of cute nods to their relationship, including their first dance being the first song they danced to at 13.

I didn’t want to have a color scheme, I wanted the wedding to be more natural and relaxed. My husband and I love to be outside in nature so we wanted to bring that to our wedding. We chose wild flowers of all colors and bridesmaids dresses to make them really pop. Tucker’s farmhouse was the first place we visited and it was an instant hit with everyone. The beautiful wild flowers everywhere and the barn background was exactly what we were looking for, and the two woman who ran it we’re absolutely amazing. They took my vision and made it a reality, I didn’t worry about anything on my wedding day and everything turned out beautiful.

The most important when we were planning the wedding was to make it ours. We didn’t want a super traditional ceremony so we tried to add a few of our own touched to it. For example we had our child (dog) be the ringbearer, my bridesmaids and I were bare foot, my brother played the ukulele, and all the guest sat on hay.

We tried to include some things that were important to us and our relationship. For example, I made my now husband a scrapbook for his 16th birthday so we had that out on our guest table. We tried to include a lot of pictures of us when we were younger as well since we have been together since we were 13.

I also loved being able to include little memories of when me and my husband were younger, for example, our first dance was “What a Wonderful World” which was the first song we danced to when we were 13.
