Classic Blush Wedding

Classic and sweet, this blush wedding from Henry Photography is easy to fall in love with. I absolutely love how the bride was able to incorporate peonies from her late grandmother’s garden into her wedding day as a special way to keep her close. It shows how heirlooms don’t always come in jewelry form, and are just as special!

Being a country girl, getting married in the city, I wanted my rustic roots to shine through, but also wanted an equal of amount of classic wedding beauty. We chose our venue because it was a perfect balance of country and city, and had an inviting ambiance. Our color scheme was simple peaches, pinks, and gold.

My mom used the diamond from my late Grandmother’s wedding ring to make me a necklace to wear on my wedding day! She had this necklace specifically designed to match my personality and simplistic/classic tastes. It is not visible to anyone else, but on the very top of the pendant, a tiny blue sapphire was placed to be my “something blue”.

It was very important to me to choose items/venues based on our tastes, and not be swayed by what is most current or what others did at their weddings. Having an intimate atmosphere that made our guests comfortable.

Peonies are my absolute favorite flower, because my Grandmother always grew them in her garden, and I remember playing in her peony bushes as a little girl. My Grandmother has since passed away, but whenever I see peonies, I am reminded of her. Even though my wedding was in late July, my Mom cut all of my late Grandmother’s peonies, and her own as well, as buds in the spring, and saved them in various refrigerators until the week of my wedding. When my wedding week arrived, she pulled them out, with the hope that they would fully bloom, and I could use some of them at my wedding. I knew choosing a late summer wedding would make having peonies included, very difficult, but we still wanted to try! Luckily, several of the peonies from my Mom and Grandmother’s gardens did bloom the week of my wedding, and my wonderful florist Amy, from Posy Florals, was able to incorporate them into the flower arrangements at my reception. A handful of them were used to rim giant iron chandeliers that hung from the ceiling. Looking up to see my Grandmothers peonies at my wedding, was very sentimental, and I felt like a piece of my Grandmother was there celebrating with us!

Some of the most special moments include: our “first look”, the moment my Dad first saw me in my wedding dress, sitting on the church altar with Jeff during our ceremony, my first dance with Jeff, a very emotion filled Father -Daughter dance, enjoying the sunset just the two of us, as our photographers captured the beautiful lighting, and our crazy guests who actually danced from the beginning of the reception until it was well over, and then carried the party off to the bar across the street!
