I bet you didn’t think your wedding could be both quirky and romantic. Today’s Colorado wedding captured by Sara Lynn Photographic proves it to be true. It is the perfect blend of modern industrial backdrop with soft and romantic details and a touch of the unexpected. I love the pink, blue, and gold color palette! And the gold dinosaur cake toppers? So cute and fun!
Sean and I didn’t have a location in mind for our wedding, other than we knew we wanted it to be local so everyone could come. We wanted a short engagement, as Sean is a teacher and has summers off. The Studios at Overland Crossing was one of the first venues that caught our eye, but they were booked. They called us a week later with a cancellation and we were so excited. We loved the urban feel, and the ability to truly make our wedding our own. Sean and I are traditional in beliefs, but quirky in personality, so our vision was a blend of simple colors with dramatic detail.
I wore pearls that my dad purchased for my mom when they were dating. The garter I wore was made by my great aunt out of a shirt that was my late grandfathers. It was a really special way to include him in my wedding day.
My favorite moment of the day was definitely Sean’s reaction when he saw me for the first time. I was extremely nervous to be in front of people during the ceremony, but once I saw how excited he was, I was put at ease. Sean and I love Jesus and we wanted to make sure that people knew that our faith is the foundation of our marriage. We had his grandfather marry us, which was very special to us.
We worked hard to stay on the same page with everything, as we had a quick engagement so planning was very chaotic. Sean and I are the most indecisive people around, so our vendors were amazing with guiding us along. We didn’t know what to expect when we walked into our reception, because we left a lot up to our vendors, but we were so impressed by everything.
We wanted to make sure our personalities came through as well, so we added personal touches like dinosaur cake toppers. Sean’s stepdad made us metal S & H letters with magnets to put on the wall by the bar. He also made chalkboard signs that we used by the venue entrance and for the bar menu. Sean’s sister and brother in law made all of our paper goods, such as the seating chart and programs.
