Warning: this bride’s smile is contagious and you are pretty much guaranteed to leave this page smiling. The theme for the wedding was vintage coastal Spain. Everything really fell into place when we selected Casa Romantica as our venue. Casa Romantica is the oldest house in San Clemente and has a very Spanish mission feel with a open garden in the middle and beautiful 360 degree views of the ocean from the terrace that is surrounded by gardens.
We both really wanted to the wedding to be a representation of the love we have for each other and an opportunity for us to have a wonderful time with friends and family. We actually had events starting on Wednesday that went through Sunday and we rented a large beach house for all of our family to stay in. We hosted our rehearsal dinner and after party at the beach house and it had a wonderful family feel to it.
The dresses and table linens were very soft using rose, lace and burlap so that the bright flowers could really shine. Even the dress I ended up selected incorporated the theme with spanish lace down the back and along the bottom. I am by no means the most creative person, but we did have personal touches throughout. We did chalk boards as signs, made homemade body scrubs in mason jars for wedding gifts and table numbers from mini chalk boards.
We also wanted to incorporate parts of each others’ personalities and family into the wedding wherever possible. So my cousin made our wedding cake, our good friend catered our rehearsal dinner and another good friend actually got ordained and married us. We choose to write out own vows, which brought a special touch and in place of a guest book we had everyone sign a surfboard.
