Whimsical Coral and Gray Wedding

Coral and gray is such a great color combination and it looks amazing in this whimsical southern wedding from Paige Winn. I love all the bright and colorful chandelier details!

Jacob and I met about 5 years ago at O’Briens pub in Mt. Pleasant, right at the entrance of I’on. He was in grad school at The University of Georgia and in town visiting a friend. I was just out with my cousin who frequented the bar. One long conversation later and I knew that I would marry him. I’ve heard people say that, and thought they were cheesy and silly, but I really did know that he was the one I would marry. While we now live together in Brooklyn, NY, there were several years of either me driving to Athens GA or him driving down to Charleston every other weekend to see each other. To me, there was no question that the wedding would be in the place where we met, the place where we fell in love, and the place that I called home for so many years.

My bridesmaids wore shades of light to medium grey dresses. I gave them a pallet to work off of and  let them choose their own dresses. Their gift was the coral and pink earrings that they each wore to help pull in the warm color from their bouquets. Bouquets consisted of corals, pinks, succulent greens, and dusty miller. Each bouquet was different and had a different focal flower.

The wedding was officiated by both my sister (who was also the matron of honor) and Jacob’s uncle. We laughed our way through our non-traditional ceremony as “uncle john” told stories of how we met and how he knew that I was the one for Jacob. He even made sure to mention the people in our lives like Jacobs boss, who came in from NY, and my dad’s best friends who became official KY Kernels after a golf trip with Jacobs family (obviously from Kentucky). It took a more serious tone when Elizabeth (my sister) read a very deep, but very important poem to us. Let me be clear, I hate anything cheesy and actually despise most poetry but this one worked.

I titled the décor concept “chandeliers and twine”. There was a touch of old southern traditional society in the white chairs, and flower petals lining the aisle, and a rustic glamour in the coral and pink painted chandeliers hanging in the trees above a vintage lounge seating area. The save the dates and invitations (designed by my husband) were actually inspired by the image of the chandeliers in the tree, so we began to introduce our guests to the atmosphere of the wedding from the first mail piece. The end result was a gorgeous, warm, and inviting atmosphere that truly had the air of a special and unique day.

When the time came I changed into my exit outfit (white skinny cords and a white and gold sweater from the Gap, where I am a production manager in NYC) and when the band leader announced the last song, I told him to play some Jazz and make it last, I ran out and grabbed everyone to come in and dance. I honestly think that everyone danced! After that, Jacob and I rode through a line of our friends on our vintage bikes from local company Pedals and Paddles. We just rode around the neighborhood for a while before we finally went to Obriens to meet everyone for drinks. We sat at the table where it all started…
