Romantic Blush Wedding

We are pretty in pink today with this romantic blush wedding from Candi Coffman. The gorgeous pink and peach florals really make this Oklahoma wedding stand out. I absolutely love the bride’s bouquet! And I really love how this couple really focused on family, especially with some hardships and obstacles thrown at them.

Lee is originally from Oklahoma City and I grew up in a small town in New Jersey, just 15 minutes outside of New York City. New York has many beautiful venues, but we knew almost immediately that there was no where we’d rather get married than in Oklahoma City. We both love the mixture of culture and rustic beauty OKC has to offer and it’s also centrally located as a majority of our family and friends are spread out through the country.

Our ceremony was held at Crossings Community Church, also in Oklahoma City. Lee’s parents attend this church regularly and I knew it would be the perfect place to exchange vows. Our Pastor, Mike Mulligan, was absolutely wonderful as were the wedding coordinators Paige Sowers and Candy Suhre. A couple months before we discovered my dad, who has been my hero since day one, had a very scary form of colon cancer (he is now in remission and doing well!). About a week before the wedding, my dad was informed he would be unable to fly to Oklahoma City due to preparations for his upcoming surgery. Paige and Candy immediately went into a plan of action and made it so that my dad wouldn’t miss the ceremony no matter what! They ensured it was completely recorded and even gave us the option to Skype my dad in so he could watch it live. My younger brother walked me down the aisle with a piece of dad’s shirt pinned to the inside of my dress as my something blue. Lee and I were surrounded by friends and family, those who love us most in the world. It was perfect.

We chose a simple rustic theme that was pretty but also laid back and a little romantic using colors of ivory, peach, and blush pink. Lee and I wanted a wedding where our friends and family good enjoy good food, great drinks (hello, margarita bar!), and dance to music we all love. We just wanted everyone to feel comfortable and have fun together! After reviewing multiple venues, we came across the Oklahoma City Farmer’s Market and realized it was our dream come true. It’s a historic building with huge windows overlooking the lights of downtown Oklahoma City. I love candles and pretty lighting so our florist lined all of the windowsills with candles in hurricanes and mason jars. The interior brick walls have exposed themselves over time in patches and make the unique fruit and veggie paintings pop throughout. It was so easy to make the venue ours without having to do too much! We were able to DIY for quite a few items like our ceremony programs, our wooden Mr. & Mrs. chair signs, and our favors which were tiny mason jars filled with New Jersey salt water taffy and tied with peach and white baker’s twine.

I loved that our family members were all a part of planning our wedding. Lee’s parents, Sally and Will, did an extraordinary job helping us plan while we were all the way in NYC. Sally went to multiple venues, took pictures, and helped with so many of the details. She also found the pretty gray burlap we used on all of the tables and with my sister-in-law Suzanne made the sweetest welcome kits for our traveling guests (which included the most delicious Oklahoma shaped sugar cookies, I still dream of them!). My younger brother helped me pick out taffy flavors for our favors, Lee’s sister Annette is an amazing calligrapher and helped us with our invitations. My dad made countless suggestions on attire (I believe the question “Will you wear a poncho over your dress at church to cover your shoulders?” was asked more than once. Oh, Dad.). Everyone, in some way, helped and was involved. I think that’s what made it all so incredibly wonderful, especially when we encountered a few very sad moments during our planning. A few months before our wedding, Lee’s beautiful grandmother, Martha, passed away. Our family and friends reminded us how much we were loved and offered so much encouragement and support. We are truly the luckiest.
