Romantic Backyard Wedding

I am so very excited to share this gorgeous backyard wedding from Brooke Courtney Photography! Every detail is breath-takingly effortless and beautiful! I’m in love with the mis-matched bridesmaids’ looks and the bride’s stunning gown. It is all so perfectly romantic!

We held the wedding at my parents house. My mother and step father suggested the idea soon after we were engaged.Dave and I both agreed that house wedding hold a certain charm and personal story. My parents bought this house 3 years ago but I would certainly call it home. The inspiration really played off of the architecture and landscape of the home. The house is a European ranch style home. We wanted the wedding to look very french countryside/grey garden’s. I didn’t have any specific colors, mostly greenery and fall blush tones. I did not want to play on all the orange and yellows just because it was the fall.

The bridesmaids picked out their own dresses. The only criteria I had was long,no silk taffeta, and be comfortable wearing it. They are all ineradicable women and i knew they would do a great job!

The most vivid memory is walking down the isle with my grandfather while hearing an acoustic version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. He was so proud and it felt really magical while we were walking.

Because Dave is a chef we created our own menu. It was a toughie, he didn’t want to do another whole pig or anything related to the restaurants he works in. So finally one night after eating a home cooked meal of friend chicken, collard greens and mashed potatoes, I jokingly said “fine, lets just serve fried chicken to everyone”. He thought it was brilliant. Its one of our favorite meals to cook. And because we did fried chicken we thought it would only be fitting to have crystal hot sauce for the favors.

Another great memory is the first look. It was so personal and intimate. I am so glad we had that moment to ourselves before anything else began. I will always remember the look on Dave’s face when he saw me. And lastly the music. I had so much fun dancing and celebrating during the reception. They band was incredible.
