Chic Emerald Wedding

Emerald is such a stunning color and I absolutely love it in today’s Vancouver wedding from Jamie Delaine. Firstly, the bride’s gown is amazing! All those layers of tulle make such a classic and elegant look. And that location? So breath-taking with all the glass walls and ivy.

We really wanted our wedding to be a reflection of our personalities and our relationship. It is easy to overthink every detail, but as we started to just go with our gut and trust our decisions the day slowly came together exactly the way we wanted. We knew we wanted to get married in downtown Vancouver and absolutely fell in the love with the Great Hall of the Vancouver Law Courts when we saw it. The cascading ivy backdrop and glass walls were beautiful and the view of downtown Vancouver from the restaurant upstairs sold us on the location.

Seeing Jordan for the first time was so special. As I waited with my Dad before the ceremony I felt quite calm, but the moment I took a step into the Hall I started to cry. There had been so much emotion leading up to this day and to realize that this moment had finally come was overwhelming. I walked up the aisle while a string trio played a version of “Home” by Phillip Phillips and I did not take my eyes off Jordan the entire time. He looked so handsome and I couldn’t believe he was about to be my husband. One of my favourite moments of the day was exchanging our vows. We had opted to write our own vows instead of saying traditional ones and it was a beautiful, vulnerable moment for the two of us.

We had a lot of fun preparing the music at our wedding. For our ceremony we had a string trio that played “Home” by Phillip Philliips during the processional and a jazzy rendition of “(This Will Be) An Everlasting Love”  by Natalie Cole during the recessional. Our first dance was to “Forever Like That” by Ben Rector, a song that has meant a lot to us throughout our relationship. Our reception was a blast. The food was amazing and our DJ did an incredible job at keeping everyone dancing all night long. It was so special to be able to celebrate with friends and family from all the different phases of our lives. There were many happy tears and laughs throughout the night- it was a beautiful night!
