A Purple NYC Loft Wedding

Today’s NYC loft wedding is so gorgeous! I am obsessed with the location, so perfect for the couple wanting something with unique character. The florals are just lovely too and I am such a fan of the bare cake!

Our gorgeous bride shares:

The number one thing that was most important to us in planning our wedding was that we would have all the most important people in our lives together in an intimate setting.  We wanted to be sure that everyone would have a good time, good food and good drink!  My personal obsession, which my wonderful husband fully supported, was no carpeting!  We were very intent on finding a somewhat nontraditional space for our big day and it absolutely could not have that paneled wooden dance floor surrounding by ball room carpeting.  When we found the Metropolitan Building we knew immediately we had the right spot.

In the beginning we were at a loss when it came to choosing colors and details, but things slowly came into clarity once we knew where things were happening.  The details were chosen to reflect the unique character of the space which is so beautiful on its own that we really didn’t have to add much.  We chose a deep aubergine purple and ivory pallet for the flowers and our one decoration was a beautiful paper cut banner that we purchased on Etsy from Yreina Flores Ortiz.  The design was inspired by Vivaldi and added the perfect festive touch to the dance floor.  My sister and made of honor was given total freedom to choose a dress that would work with the rest of our pallet and I would pick shoes that would match her.  She wore a blue dress and fuscia color shoes to play off the flowers.  I wore blue shoes to match her dress.

One of our favorite parts of the day was actually before all the guests arrived.  Having just our immediate families gathered together for pictures and some quiet time together was priceless.  As the room started to fill up with guests we had an amazing little room tucked behind a wall where we were able to get ourselves ready and have a quiet moment with our wedding party and officiant, my dad’s best friend from high school.  We think that what made our wedding work for us and hopefully our guests was that it was intimate, luxurious and at the same time casual and laid back.
