An Intimate Handmade Beach Wedding

If it’s a little chilly where you are, today’s gorgeous beach wedding will be sure to warm you up! There are so many simple and sweet DIY details to fall in love with here. I am dying over the Jenga ‘guest book’ (how fun to play years later and read all those lovely notes?) And the bride handmade pretty pottery bud vases as favors! Seriously, how sweeter could this wedding get?

The beautiful bride May shares:

We both wanted an intimate and timeless “backyard” beach wedding that expressed our personalities. Once we decided that we wanted to get married on the beaches of 30A, I put my Google searching skills to work. Our priorities for the house included a private beach, pet-friendly, and accommodations for our 32 family members as they were traveling from Australia, California, Michigan, Indiana, New York, and Georgia. We knew that we wouldn’t be able to visit any of the houses for several months, but we wanted to have a good idea of what was available. Plus, we knew that when we visited, we would only have a day or two to visit them. So we wanted to have it narrowed down to our favorites.  We found the perfect house on our first day there…10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, 2 living areas, 2 kitchens, pet-friendly and right on the beach. After setting the date and location, it was time to put my touches on the details…and I love details.

Our accent colors: Blues (his favorite) and pinks (my favorite). I found my vintage Vera Wang wedding dress at a consignment store. It was perfect. The wedding bouquet had Chris’ family cameo from the late 1800s wrapped around it. I wanted to make sure that our family and friends had something beautiful and meaningful to take home with them. So I decided to take pottery lessons over several months and make ceramic bud vases for each guest. The food was very important to us as we wanted to make sure that it reflected our different cultures. Emerald Coast Catering masterfully blended East meets West.

As I was walking down the aisle with my dad, I remember thinking that every thing was perfect, our friends and family were there to share this new chapter in our lives, and my soon to be husband was filled with emotions as he waited. This was also one of his favorite moments…while he was waiting for me to walk down the aisle, he noticed a flock of birds flying right over the ceremony and knew that God was there and blessed this union. When we became husband and wife…The moment that we let it all set in…The wedding was perfect.

This was a wedding vacation and the best part was being able to spend a week with our family and friends before and after the wedding. We are forever grateful to our wedding vendors, our wonderful family and friends for without them we would not have had the most incredible wedding. We are blessed to be married to our best friend. The past 10 years have been full of some of the best moments of our lives, and we are so excited for many more of those moments to come as we continue our journey together.
