A Colorful Southern Spring Wedding

I hope you’re in the mood for a low-key, chic, and vibrant wedding, because today’s is just that. I’m falling for the fun pops of color, the sweet Southern details, and of course that amazing floral ceremony arch! I especially love all the colorful bridesmaids and groomsmen too, with their matching ties and bouts!

The lovely bride Karen shares:

What was most important to me was that our wedding told the story of Ty and I as a couple.  I wanted our wedding to feel personal and tailor-made, and the best complement that people gave us afterward was “That wedding was so you and Ty!”  We are a calm and low-key couple, so didn’t want there to be excessive decorations.  Rather, we wanted the natural beauty of the venue to shine through and for the decor to feel organic and uncontrived.  We also wanted our wedding to celebrate all of the amazing people who have loved and supported us throughout our lives, and that desire came through in a lot of the decisions we made.

We decided not to have place settings, and instead let people sit where they wanted with lots of standing tables so people could mingle.  Instead of a plated meal or a buffet line we had different food stations set up around the reception area, which also encouraged people to move around and visit with one another.  We wanted the wedding to be low-stress on our family and wedding party, so opted to take pictures before the ceremony so once it all started we could all just celebrate.  We chose a venue that could host both the ceremony and reception, which cut out travel time.

I also let my bridesmaids wear whatever dress they wanted, one they already owned and felt comfortable in.  I gave them a general color palette to choose from and they all looked beautiful.  Ty’s groomsmen wore black suits instead of tuxes.  I didn’t want to look fussy myself, and was so pleased with my beautiful lace wedding gown with a natural silhouette, and very natural hair and makeup.  In many ways that was my favorite part – our wedding wasn’t about protocol or presentation, it was about our love and all of the people who made it possible.
