Real Wedding | An Anthropologie Inspired Wedding

Just giving you a heads up at how gorgeous today’s wedding is. Seriously, I had the hardest time narrowing down all the stunning images from Troy Grover. This handmade and DIY wedding has so many amazing details that I know you all are going to love! Katie and Shawn did an amazing job of blending vintage and modern with some influences from the beloved Anthropologie. Trust me when I say you won’t want to miss a single image!

The beautiful bride Katie gives the details:

We had our wedding in my hometown. Shawn and I live in Seattle but wanted to make sure all of our friends and family would be part of our day. So it made the most sense for us to have the wedding in Omaha since all of my family and friends are there and his family is in Ohio. We didn’t want our wedding to be too formal or too big and wanted it to be casual and have a more laid back feel to it.

I would have to say my favorite part of the day was the ceremony itself. Our officiant did such an amazing job. When she sent the draft of the ceremony to me a few weeks before the wedding it brought me to tears. I really also liked that we decided to incorporate a “love letter” box into the ceremony, instead of doing some of the traditional things like a sand ceremony.  I like the idea that we will have box full of letters written to each other over our first year of marriage and every year after to look back on. It was also great to see everything come together, not everything went as planned. Hair appointments ran late which made the rest of the day be off, our ring bearer had a melt down before he was suppose to go down the aisle and never made it, but in the end those things didn’t matter and there were so many other spontaneous moments that took place that made the day even more special.

I would have to say that the only other thing that was really important to us was our photographer. We both really enjoy photography and knew the pictures of our wedding would be something we would cherish for the rest of our lives. And we knew right away that we wanted Troy and Aimee to be the ones to capture our day. Their pictures are flawless and so beautiful. We knew they would capture us and our day perfectly.

When it came to planning the wedding I knew I wanted to get married somewhere with a vintage feel and some history. I had always wanted to get married outdoors so when we found our venue in the Old Market area of Omaha it was a perfect fit. It was an old building from the 1900’s with a lot of character and an outdoor deck for the ceremony. When I envisioned our wedding there were three things that came to mind: vintage, Anthropologie and handmade.  So our wedding became a mixture of all of these things. Everything but a few items were things that were handmade with the help of my family, which made it even more special. I was also able to use vintage family pieces such as my grandma’s glass cake stand and my great grandmother’s engagement ring.
